Famous Band?

While this band, formed in the early 1900's may not of been 'famous" as in Nashville or "Hollywood," it was well known and respected as the best traveling musical group in northeast Colorado!

The Haxtun Harmony Band was organized in 1907 and continued to draw large crowds performing music throughout the region of northeast Colorado. But, preforming at the annual Haxtun Corn Festival, Haxtun Colorado, was the highlight of their performances spanning 45 years. Along with their music presentation was the unique style of costumes wore by the band members. Their "Band Wagon" made it possible for them to travel together and was remembered for its unique patriotic colors. The family band took on several name changes throughout its history. Along with the Harmony Band, it was sometimes called the Haxtun Coop Band, Haxtun Farmers Union Band and before it was retired in 1952 it was called the Allen Band in honor of the original owner and conductor Sam Allen.
